Nancy began her training in the recycling industry through the South Carolina Department of Commerce's Recycling Marketing Development Department. She joined the Recycling Industry Group (RIG) in February 2009. RIG is a cluster under the South Carolina Council on Competitiveness, New Carolina, and operates under the direction of the Governor appointed board of the Recycling Marketing Development Advisory Council (RMDAC).

Nancy is Co-Chair of the Joint Marketing Committee of the Recycling Industry Group, the committee responsible for marketing the South Carolina Recycling License Plate which premiered in January 2010.

Tomato Palms was founded by Nancy Ogburn and has been recognized by the Climate Protection Action Campaign and Lexington County as a Green Business Member and is also a member of the Carolina Recycling Association, the Better Business Bureau, the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Irmo Chamber of Commerce. Nancy has recently been invited to join the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce's Environment and Quality of Life Task Force.

Tomato Palms has also been recognized by the Recycling Marketing Development Advisory Council, for its waste reduction and recycling efforts on October 13th, 2009.

In 2009, the Recycling Industry Group (RIG) received approval upon Tomato Palms' recommendation to encourage the Adopt-a-Highway programs to implement recycling in addition to garbage removal on South Carolina's Highways. Tomato Palms is a sponsor of the New Carolina's SC Recycling Industry Cluster Strategic Plan to guide the recycling industry to reach set international recycling goals by 2025.

In the news, Tomato Palms has been featured on news stations WIS-TV and WLTX-TV, was on the cover of the Spring 2009 edition of Lexington Woman Magazine, was featured on the online radio broadcast of The Greater Irmo Chamber of Commerce's program "Business Matters," and was featured in the main article of The Free Times Earth Day 2010 issue.
